Proper maintenance of the hydraulic breaker

Proper maintenance of the hydraulic breaker is essential to ensure that it works efficiently and has a long lifespan. By properly maintaining the hydraulic breaker, you also protect the working machine that carries it. In today's busy lifestyle and work, it is advisable to have reminders. That's why we bring you a some tips that will remind you of the proper maintenance of your hydraulic breaker in order to avoid additional and unnecessary financial costs as much as possible.

MAINTENANCE TO BE APPLIED BY THE OPERATORS

Prior to each use:
    1. Run the excavator for 5 to 10 minutes before starting the hydraulic breaker.
    2. During a short test run with the hydraulic breaker, check that the number of firing for regularity.
    3. Check for oil leaks from any part of the hydraulic breaker.
    4. Check for any errors after this test run.
    5. Properly lubricate the hydraulic breaker.
Regular maintenance:
    1. Check the breaker's oil level and condition regularly.
    2. Lubricate the bushings with grease. The tool should be leaning on the ground.
    3. Tighten loose fittings (bolts, hose connections, etc.) if necessary.
    4. Inspect the breaker's bolts, nuts, and tool regularly for signs of wear or damage.
    5. Check the condition of the tool and the retainers.
    6. Observe the hydraulic oil temperature, hydraulic connections, breaker firing power and operating performance.
    7. Check the wearing plates in the breaker outer housing and the condition of the vibration buffers.
    8. Check the wearing limits of the wearing plates by moving the breaker body in the outer housing with the help of a lever. The permitted gap between the wearing plate and the breaker inner body is 5-10 mm max.

Yearly maintenance performed by a service technician

The yearly working period is 500-600 hours as a standard. But in some hard job conditions, breaker can reach standar working period before ending the year. But in some hard job conditions, the hydraulic breaker can reach standard yearly working period even before the end of one year. It is recommended to take the hydraulic breaker to the service for maintenance at a maximum of 600 hours of operation.

A qualified service technician will take care of the following actions:

1. Check all sealing and the accumulator membrane in the breaker, and replace all sealings with new.
2. Check all breaker parts and either replace or repair damaged parts.
3. Replace the hydraulic oil filters of the carrier if there is one.
4. Check all hydraulic hoses and replace if necessary
5. Check the breaker’s operatiion pressure, efficiency, impact rate and evenness of operation as well as the hydraulic oil temperature in continuous operation.

Finally, a few more general tips to extend the lifespan of your hydraulic breaker:

    • Use only quality hydraulic oil recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
    • Keep the breaker's internal components clean and free of debris.
    • Keep the hydraulic breaker stored in a dry and clean area when not in use.
    • Use the breaker within its designed limits to prevent wear and tear on the equipment.
    • Have the hydraulic breaker serviced by a qualified technician if any problems arise.
