Instructions for operating a hydraulic breaker underwater
Not every hydraulic breaker can be used underwater as it will be damaged. In order to use the hydraulic breaker under water, certain modifications must be made according to the strict instructions of the manufacturer. Attaching a hydraulic hammer to an external air compressor ensures its exceptional performance and reliability standards in underwater applications. Attaching a hydraulic breaker to an external air compressor ensures its exceptional performance and reliability standards in underwater applications. Thanks to an external compressor, a powerful air jet is continuously fired to keep the water away from sensitive components. The connection to the compressed air prevents the ingress of water into the impact area between the breaker and the tool and prevents breakage and corrosion of the main components of the breaker and the bearing machine.
We bring you the instructions for operating the hydraulic breaker underwater that must be followed:
1. Before use, it is necessary to check the condition of the hydraulic breaker in a dry state:
- lubrication of the breaker
- hydraulic hose and air tightness
- the correctness of the adjusted air pressure and the arrival of the correct amount in the area of the tool and piston
2. During work under water, it is important to choose the correct amount of air (pressure) at depths:
- 1-2 bars up to 5 meters
- 2-3 bars up to 10 meters
- 3-4 bars up to 15 meters
The pressure and amount of compressed air must be strictly controlled so that excessive values do not cause the lubricant to blow out. These amounts of air pressure proportional to the depth of use are 20% more than recommended.
3. ADJUST THE BASIC MACHINE FOR OPERATING THE BREAKER UNDERWATER
On the base machine, a pipeline must be installed on the branch of the machine with a flow and pressure regulator on the branch next to the cabin. If working at greater depths or for a longer period of time, it is recommended to bring the control pressure gauge into the cabin in front of the machine operator.
4. Every time after using the hammer under water, it is necessary to:
- wash the hydraulic breaker with fresh water from the outside
- wash the air supply hose and thus wash out the interior space in the hydraulic breaker
- dry the hydraulic breaker from moisture and water with the help of a compressor
- pour 1-2 liters of oil or Hidrol HD 46 into the air hose of the hydraulic breaker and reconnect it to the air so that the poured liquid protects the inner part of the hydraulic breaker from possible rust
IMPORTANT!
This procedure must be repeated daily, otherwise damage will occur to the tool, the hydraulic breaker and the base machine. A hydraulic breaker for working underwater must be serviced every 200-400 working hours.
